About the role

Title:  Project Coordinator   (Community Engagement )                                     

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: Under general supervision, assists with the administration, development, and implementation of policy initiatives and strategic planning priorities. Performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists departments with coordinating and developing policy initiatives and strategic planning priorities. 
  • Assists departments with assessments and project planning. 
  • Creates a standard project assessment template to include risks, costs, and a synopsis of issues reported. 
  • Serves as a representative for the department at project meetings. 
  • Assists the department in performance management and with identifying operational inefficiencies and ways to implement improvement plans for future evaluation.
  • Prepares written reports for management and works with departments to gather and convey information and projects results and assessments. 
  • Maintains documentation required for project accountability and project assessment.
  • Attends community, civic, and/or business organization meetings to represent department programs or initiatives. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Public Administration or related field    
  • One to three years of office administration experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, or Adobe Creative Suite

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Good knowledge of the principles and techniques of business management.                         
  • Thorough knowledge of all phases of office management. 
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, coordinating planning and design projects.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks. 
  • High level of organizational and planning skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job requires the employee to frequently sit and talk. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand and talk. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work is generally performed primarily in an office setting, in a smoke-free environment, with controlled temperature and lighting. Travel to citywide Park District facilities, events, and meetings may be required.

Pay Ranges: $65,000.00/annually
