Serves as clerical support to the principal/department supervisor; greets visitors and answers the telephone; prepares and maintains files/records; types correspondence; assists students and school/department staff.

Types general correspondence, memorandum, reports, schedules, contracts, purchase orders and other materials from rough draft, copy, marginal notes or verbal instruction;

Serves as receptionist; answers telephone, provides information, takes and dispatches messages;

Greets visitors and refers to proper authority for disposition;

Responds to inquiries about the school, programs, procedures and policies;

Maintains appointment calendar, schedules appointments and meetings;

Checks and reviews a variety of data for accuracy, completeness and conformance to established standards and procedures;

Collects, maintains and prepares data for records and generates requested reports;

Performs minor accounting type functions;

Processes work orders;

Makes arithmetical calculations; requisitions supplies and materials for school/department;

Processes vandalism, accident and workers' compensation forms;

Records daily attendance and calls parents if student is absent;

Maintains records of excessive student absences and unexcused absences;

Maintains confidential information;

Makes announcements on the public address system;

Sorts and distributes mail;

Verifies information for athletic eligibility;

Prepares and distributes grade cards;

Maintains student files and responds to transcript requests;

Maintains catalogs, profiles, calendars, demographics, schedules, attendance and grade records on computer;

Prepares files and records for entering and withdrawing students;

Writes absentee and tardy slips, issues passes;

Handles a variety of routine technical and administrative assignments;

Sets up and maintains office procedures and filing systems;

Types letters and memos, reports, bulletins, agendas, invoices, schedules, manuals, student files and records;

Operates standard office, word processing and data processing equipment;

Performs related tasks as required.
