Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Kolkata for a Chemist – Ink Shade Matching & Blending. The chemist will be responsible for developing, matching, and adjusting ink shades to meet specific customer and production requirements, ensuring consistency across batches and print runs. Daily tasks include preparing ink formulations, conducting laboratory tests, performing quality checks on raw materials and finished inks, and documenting formulations and test results. The role involves close coordination with production, quality assurance, and customer service teams to resolve shade-related issues, optimize ink performance on various substrates and machines, and support continuous improvement in ink quality and efficiency. The chemist may also assist in troubleshooting on the shop floor and supporting technical training on ink handling and usage.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong knowledge of ink chemistry, color theory, and shade matching techniques, including experience with pigment selection and blending.
- Candidates should possess skills in laboratory testing, quality control procedures, and use of instruments such as spectrophotometers, viscosity meters, and pH meters.
- Candidates should possess familiarity with printing processes (e.g., offset, flexographic, gravure, digital) and an understanding of how inks interact with different substrates and press conditions.
- Candidates should possess attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and capacity to document formulations and maintain accurate technical records.
- Candidates should possess effective communication and collaboration skills to work with production teams, suppliers, and customers on shade and performance requirements.
- Diploma or degree in Chemistry, Printing Technology, Materials Science, or a related field is preferred; relevant industry experience in ink development or shade matching is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in Kolkata, manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and adhere to safety and environmental standards in the laboratory and production areas.
