Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Chemical Project Engineer role based in Gurugram. The Chemical Project Engineer will plan, design, and oversee chemical process projects related to battery material recycling, including process development, scale-up, and optimization for Metal Salts. Responsibilities include preparing project plans, P&IDs, and material and energy balances, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring projects meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The role involves supervising installation and commissioning of equipment, monitoring process performance, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer will also collaborate with vendors and partners, support environmental compliance and sustainability goals, and prepare technical reports and documentation.
About the Role
The Project Coordination & EPC Interface Manager will represent Unicel Greens throughout the project lifecycle, acting as the single point of coordination between the company, the EPC contractor, consultants, government authorities, equipment vendors, and utility providers.
The role is responsible for ensuring seamless execution of engineering, procurement, construction, statutory approvals, vendor coordination, equipment delivery, installation, commissioning, documentation, and project reporting.
This individual will safeguard the company’s interests and ensure that project timelines, quality standards, budgets, and compliance requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities
1. Contractor Coordination
* Act as Unicel’s primary representative with the contractor.
* Review project schedules and monitor milestones.
* Coordinate engineering deliverables and design approvals.
* Track daily project progress and highlight bottlenecks.
* Ensure timely resolution of technical and commercial issues.
* Monitor contractor productivity and resource deployment.
* Coordinate commissioning readiness and project handover.

2. Vendor & Supply Chain Management- Procurement
* Coordinate procurement of owner-supplied equipment and materials.
* Liaise with domestic and international suppliers.
* Track manufacturing status and dispatch schedules.
* Monitor logistics, customs clearance, and site deliveries.
* Ensure timely availability of equipment before installation.
* Coordinate inspection and factory acceptance tests where applicable.

3. Engineering & Technical Coordination
* Coordinate reviews of PFDs, P&IDs, layout drawings, GA drawings, utility plans, electrical drawings, instrumentation, and civil drawings.
* Ensure comments from internal teams are incorporated.
* Maintain revision control of engineering documents.
* Coordinate technical discussions between OEMs and EPC teams.

Desired Candidate Profile
Education
* B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, or Civil Engineering.
* PMP certification is an advantage.

* 2-4 years in industrial project execution for chemical plants
* Experience managing EPC contractors
* Experience in specialty chemicals, recycling, process plants, pharmaceuticals, metals only.
* Strong understanding of procurement and vendor management in chemical projects

* Experience taking projects from greenfield construction through commissioning in chemical projects

Qualifications
- Strong chemical process engineering skills, including process design, scale-up, optimization, and familiarity with unit operations relevant to hydrometallurgy or battery recycling.
- Experience in project engineering and management, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating with internal teams and external vendors.
- Knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory standards for chemical plants, with the ability to implement safe operating procedures and risk assessments.
- Proficiency with engineering and design tools (e.g., process simulation software, CAD/P&ID tools, data analysis tools such as Excel or similar).
- Ability to analyze process data, troubleshoot operational issues, and drive continuous improvement in efficiency, yield, and sustainability.
- Strong communication and documentation skills for preparing reports, SOPs, and technical presentations, and for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Prior experience in battery materials, hydrometallurgy, recycling, or related chemical manufacturing environments is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to work on-site in a plant setting, adapt to evolving project needs, and contribute to a culture of innovation and environmental responsibility.
