About the Department

Calling all IT enthusiasts with a knack for problem-solving! The Chatham County Detention Center seeks a Network Technician to join our team. If you have an Associate Degree in a relevant field and at least 2 years of network design and troubleshooting experience, we encourage you to apply!

Position Duties

  • Perform technical work in planning, coordinating, and conducting the installation, maintenance, and repair of computer and/or telecommunications equipment. 
  • Receive and install desktop technology components such as personal computers, monitors, scanners, printers, and associated software. 
  • Configure new equipment for department-specific duties. 
  • Test the functionality of new equipment and integration with existing systems and software and make necessary adjustments. 
  • Provide end-user support, training, and advice on all client-side computer hardware and software. 
  • Assist the help desk by taking service desk calls to investigate, categorize, and resolve incidents or escalate as necessary. 
  • Utilize the work order system to document problems, communicate the resolution of issues, and provide training to other technicians. 
  • May be assigned by your supervisor to minor or major projects. 
  • May serve as an assistant/backup for another Network Technician. 
  • May be responsible and accountable for a supporting IT service. 
  • Collaborate with others and work as part of a team. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, and 
  • At least two (2) years of experience in network troubleshooting; or 
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience. 
  • Must have experience supporting applications and hardware within a Microsoft Windows and networked environment. 
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
