About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on CA-inter to own core accounting operations and financial reporting for a fast-growing, VC-backed sleep-tech startup. This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants to move beyond routine bookkeeping into audit management, due diligence readiness, and cross-functional problem-solving - with direct exposure to a Series-funded, India-US cross-border business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations
• Own month-end close: journal entries, accruals, prepaid amortisation, depreciation, revenue recognition
• Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) with variance commentary
• Ensure books are audit-ready and compliant with Ind AS / Schedule III presentation
2. Statutory Compliance
• GST, TDS, PF/ESI and other statutory filings - accuracy and timeliness
• Track regulatory changes and flag compliance risks proactively
3. AP / AR Reconciliation
• Vendor and customer reconciliations, ageing analysis, follow-ups on discrepancies
• Bank reconciliations across multiple accounts/entities
4. Audit Liaison
• Own the statutory and internal audit process end-to-end -audit planning, data room prep, auditor queries, closure of observations
• (Note: this role owns audits; strategic sign-off remains with Finance Manager)
The candidate will be expected to work on the
5. Due Diligence Readiness (Preferred)
• Build and maintain a structured data room covering Financial DD, Tax DD, and Secretarial DD
• Prior exposure to due diligence processes (investor DD, M&A DD, or audit-linked DD) strongly preferred
• Coordinate with legal/CS and external advisors during fundraising or compliance reviews
6. Ad-hoc / Unstructured Assignments
• Comfortable picking up undefined problems and structuring them from scratch — cross-border queries, process automation, ad-hoc MIS, special projects
What We're Looking For
• Qualification: Chartered Accountant (CA) - freshers to 1 to 3 years PQE
• High ownership mindset - treats company problems as their own, doesn't wait to be told
• Bias for action - comfortable with ambiguity, moves fast, figures it out
• Founder-mentality / 0-to-1 builder - willing to build processes where none exist, not just follow SOPs
• Strong Excel; Zoho Books experience and Due diligence experience is a plus
• Clear communicator, comfortable liaising directly with auditors and external stakeholders
• Startup-ready: scrappy, hands-on, wears multiple hats, thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
