About the role

Ensuring Chart’s Success…

The Safety Coordinator will assist the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager with day-to-day HSE related activities. This includes regular and frequent inspection of equipment and facilities, and handling/disposition of hazardous waste.

What Will You Do?

Monitor the company’s safety standards in accordance with OSHA and State Regulations
Train and assist others (Area Managers, Coordinators, and employees to complete their Safety responsibilities (Inspections, Compliance, Follow safety rules, etc.)
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations
Work closely with production workers/supervisory personnel in evaluating production activities and creating a safe work environment, while looking for continuous improvement opportunities
Assuring regulatory compliance in areas of policies, training, equipment and environmental control
Evaluation and monitoring of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
Assist with incident investigations to determine root causes and help develop corrective actions
Investigate Near Misses with employees to determine root cause and report to Manager
Walk the campus looking for any potential risk and work with local staff to mitigate the risk
Coordination of emergency safety drills
Monitor safety performance in the workplace and provide feedback to employees and management
Provide safety orientation and training to new employees and ongoing staff as required

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

This position will require the ability to move around the production floor several hours each day.
Lift up to 25 pounds.
Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, other related tasks in an office and industrial setting.

Your Experience Should Be...

Experience in emergency response and/or experience in a formal safety role in a manufacturing environment is required
Strong communication and group presentation skills
Able to maintain current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required (strong excel skills)
Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously
Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues
Passion for Safety and willing to help others
Environmental experience or willingness to learn
Member of a Safety Committee

Your Education Should Be…

Highschool diploma or GED
2-6 years working in a safety / environmental role in a manufacturing environment
