About the role

Description

  • Responsible for the supervision of the Parts Department and Parts Clerks, includes scheduling of their work and shifts to ensure that parts and supplies are made available to mechanics and other Transit Management of Charlotte Departments.
  • Responsible for scheduling and supervising annual inventory of the total parts and supplies and reconciling such inventory with Transit Management of Charlotte archives as required.
  • Procurement of all maintenance parts and supplies includes establishing and maintaining inventory levels to determine need for reordering.
  • Confer with vendors in selecting parts and supplies to determine estimate values and market price and determine method of procurement per department budget and policies and procedures of Transit Management of Charlotte.
  • Ensure verification of shipment of incoming/outgoing parts and supplies for delivery, quality, authorizing signatures on requisitions and availability dates.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Shop Foremen to ensure continuity of parts and supplies for all shifts and maintain an adequate supply of parts and supplies in the inventory system to provide efficient operation of Transit Management of Charlotte.
  • Coordinate with Materials Inventory Clerk for the accuracy of records and stock levels and proper flow of Purchase Orders and 


Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Detailed knowledge and experience in Inventory Management Concepts and Systems.
  • Knowledge of Division Policy, Procedures and Practices.
  • Ability to interpret and apply the terms of Labor Agreement while supervising employees of a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Knowledge of and proficientcy in Spear (4) Inventory Management Software Application.
  • Knowledge and proficient in Microsoft Office Software (MS Word, Outlook and Excel) to include other related Customized Transit/Transit Management of Charlotte Inventory Management Systems.
  • Superior computer literacy in spreadsheet and Data Base Management Applications
  • Must possess and maintain valid N.C. or S.C. Driver’s License.
  • Provides exemplary customer service to internal and external customers through effective communication, performance management and by personal example.
  • Must possess good leadership qualities.
  • Must have ability to make sound decisions and cognitive reasoning.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.


MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree or Two (2) years of college with coursework in business and purchasing evidenced by official transcripts a plus. However, candidate with equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered viable.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a Transportation/Automotive Parts Industry a plus.
  • Prior managerial or supervisory experience in a comparable Car Dealership/Transit Parts Department/Storeroom or transportation industry a plus.
