About the role

At Schwab, we know that every interaction matters, whether it's with a client, a colleague, or the community we call home. That's why our Indianapolis campus is more than just a workplace; it's a hub where people come together to grow, collaborate, and make a difference. Here, you'll find a culture built on mentorship, innovation, and support. And when you bring your career to Indy, you don't just join a team - you join a community that is invested in helping you succeed. To give you a closer look at what it's like to work here, we sat down with two Schwabbies, Traig M. and Sean L., to hear how their careers have grown and why Indianapolis has been the right place to build them. How did you first connect with Schwab and the Aspiring Talent Academy (ATA) program? Sean: "I came across Schwab on a job board and didn't know much about the company at first. But once I started researching, I was impressed by the culture and the opportunities. The interview process felt welcoming and supportive. Even though I was nervous, it was clear they wanted me to succeed." Traig: "In college, I studied business management with minors in economics and finance. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do, but I knew that finance was my strong suit. When I was searching for internships, Schwab quickly stood out in the Indianapolis area. Everyone knows who Charles Schwab is, and I thought, why wouldn't I want to work for a Fortune 500 company? What an awesome experience would that be." What surprised you most about working at Schwab? Sean: "There's a special aura around the office! I imagined the corporate environment to be very serious and not super personal. But at Schwab, everyone has been incredibly friendly and interested in my life – way more than I expected. They really care about my wellbeing." Traig: "When you think of Schwab, you think of a massive company. But when I came into the Indianapolis office, it felt much smaller and more personal. My internship cohort had about 13 people, and we grew really close. Even though there are a lot of people here, everyone is approachable and willing to help. You never feel lost in the shuffle." How has Schwab helped you develop your skills? Sean: "ATA gave me a great foundation in finance. I studied for the Securities Industry Exam (SIE) and then got time and resources to prepare for my licenses. Each step built my confidence. The program is designed so you're never thrown in unprepared, and that's helped me grow a lot." Traig: "The focus on licensing is a huge benefit. Schwab gives you dedicated time during the workday to study for the Series 7 and 66. A lot of my friends at other firms have to do that on their own time, but here you're supported. Each time I went back on the phones, I had more knowledge and confidence. That made the learning process rewarding." What has mentorship and training looked like for you? Sean: "My manager and mentors really invested in me. They didn't just want me to succeed in my current role, but in my career long-term. That kind of guidance made a big difference." Traig: "The ATA program is structured really well. We only took a few calls just to get exposure, and we always had mentors around. When I started full-time, calls were added in gradually, alongside licensing. Each time we went back, we had more tools to help clients. That balance gave me confidence." Why build your career in Indianapolis? Sean: "I grew up in Indiana, so being close to family and friends was important to me. What I love about Indianapolis is that it's not a huge city – it's just right size. Also, the office is in a great spot, it's modern, has free snacks at 1:30p, and a walking path." Traig: "I'm from here and now I live downtown Indianapolis. I really enjoy the area, and all my friends and family are here, so I don't see any need to relocate anytime soon. The office is great as well — the building is very nice, we have standing desks, a café with great coffee, good food, outdoor spaces to meet with colleagues; it's really easy to collaborate with people in person." What makes Schwab different from other companies? Sean: "Every client interaction matters. Every single call, you treat as if it's the only call of the day. I often tell clients it doesn't matter how much you have in your account; I want to help you, no matter how long it might take. It's being able to prioritize clients and always treating them with respect and dignity is what really sets Schwab apart." Traig: "The culture. Everyone says that, but it's true here. People want to help you grow, and you feel supported in a way you don't always find at other companies. Here, you're encouraged to pursue the positions and career path that interests you the most."
