JOB SUMMARY: (Brief Statement of Purpose)
Under general direction and supervision of the Director of Business Services, the Human Resources Administrative Assistant will perform tasks in areas of recruitment, onboarding, compensation, benefits, and training compliance in adherence to employment-related laws and regulations.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
This classification is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the Director, Business Services in support of the organization’s goals and objectives.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (illustrative only- Work assignments may vary and will be communicated to the employee by the supervisor.)
- Performs tasks and provide assistance in the areas of staffing, recruitment and selection, compensation, benefits and employee training;
- Accurately maintain employee data and processing of new hires, transfers, terminations, salary adjustments and organizational changes in the HRIS System;
- Ensure legal compliance of HR state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and/or procedures as required;
- Provide guidance to management and employees in interpreting Personnel Policies and Procedures;
- Reviews and recommends updates to policy and procedure to maintain efficiency and compliance;
- Routinely audits HR documentation, employee files, training, and other HR programs as needed.
- Process requests for information and employment verifications;
- Filing of paper and/or electronic paperwork;
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance;
- Provide backup for the receptionist desk, answering phones, greeting visitors and assisting with grocery and gas cards. To ensure great customer service, it may be necessary to be physically stationed at the receptionist desk.
- Performs other related duties and assignments as required;
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Effective oral and written communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Ability to interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations;
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Management preferred. Requires 2-5 years of Human Resources experience. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification a plus. Additional relevant experience and education may be substituted for a portion of the aforementioned requirements
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance and criminal background check.
- Requires working experience with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position may require sitting for long periods at times, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping and long periods of concentration
- Must be able to lift up to 15lbs
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
