Senior Protocol Engineer (Rust)

About Us:

Chainway Labs is seeking a Senior Protocol Engineer to join our team at Citrea, Bitcoin’s First ZK Rollup.

At Citrea, our goal is to secure onchain finance with Bitcoin. We believe that Bitcoin and its values should be scaled to serve as the standard for decentralized finance. Achieving this vision requires scaling Bitcoin with zero-knowledge proofs, ensuring on-chain verifiability and data availability within the Bitcoin network.

This approach makes Citrea the first scaling solution to enable more complex applications without compromising Bitcoin security and changing its consensus rules.

Our Mission

Required Skills:

• A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in protocol development.
• Proven expertise in creating production-ready systems using Rust.
• Exceptional communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• An aptitude for quick thinking, problem-solving, and clearly and effectively expressing solutions.

Preferred Skills:

• Hands-on experience in systems programming.
• Familiarity with Blockchain protocol architectures.
• Knowledge of the Bitcoin, Lightning Network, and Ethereum rollups, especially ZK rollups.
• Previous experience in a start-up environment or a demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain cryptographic protocols for Citrea’s rollup and bridge architecture.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure seamless protocol integration.
• Build and optimize core bridge components such as state proof generation, verifier binaries, and signature collection.
• Ensure scalability, security, and performance across the bridge and rollup infrastructure.
• Lead testing efforts to validate protocol correctness and bridge reliability.
