Position Description

SSE-OpenShift Administrator

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced OpenShift & Kubernetes Administrator with 5-8 years of hands-on experience in system administration on Red Hat OpenShift. The ideal candidate will be responsible for deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting OpenShift and Kubernetes clusters, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.

Key Responsibilities and skills required:

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes clusters in on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Troubleshoot issues with node failures, networking issues, and performance bottlenecks
  • Performing Maintenance activities on cluster line performing patching, configuration changes, installing operators etc.
  • Familiarity with Linux administration
  • Understanding of networking concepts in Kubernetes CNI (Calico, OVN & Cilium).
  • Knowledge of storage solutions (Ceph, Trident, Azure Disk, CSI drivers).
  • Good understanding of security best practices in Kubernetes and OpenShift.
  • Configure, modify project quotas and limit ranges. Assist application team on issues with quotas and limits.
  • Perform certificate management when the existing certificates expired and when needed.
  • Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions for cluster observability.
  • Perform Daily health check of cluster and fix issues based on observations. Implement and customize Grafana dashboards and Prometheus queries if required to effectively monitor the cluster performance
  • Check cluster utilization and share reports to business when needed. Forecast capacity growth requirement and handle capacity increase.
  • Backup of critical configuration and DB when needed or before any maintenance activities.
  • Planning and platform patching and upgrade with Zero downtime.
  • Customize master and node configurations post deployment of OpenShift to meet requirements.
  • Should be able to handle first point escalation for all technical and process issues
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise wherever required
  • Plan and schedule Changes, Coordinating with different stakeholders
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis for Major Incidents
  • Perform Trend analysis, identify top few incidents and work with respective team’s individual to minimize the incidents
  • Experience with Ansible, Terraform, Helm, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Automate repetitive tasks using scripting and orchestration tools.
  • Automate deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications using Helm, Operators, and GitOps tools (ArgoCD, FluxCD).
  • Work with developers to containerize applications using Docker, Podman, and manage images in container registries (Quay, Harbor, ECR, GCR).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Tekton, ArgoCD) and Create and manage CI/CD pipelines for application deployment.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, security, and development teams to ensure seamless container orchestration.
  • Certification in CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator), OpenShift Administrator (EX280), or equivalent.
