Position: Chief Executive Officer | Function: Commercial Leadership — Sales, Distribution, Purchase, Strategy | Experience: 15+ years in nutraceuticals / pharma / healthcare | Location: Ahmedabad, Gujarat (Relocation required; travel reimbursed)R
Our Client is one of India’s top nutraceutical manufacturers, operating the 5th largest nutraceuticals facility in the country at Bavla, Ahmedabad. The state-of-the-art, zero-discharge plant is certified by WHO-GMP, ISO, FSSAI, and FDA, and is built to export-readiness for the US and European markets.
We manufacture a comprehensive range of products — tablets, capsules, soft gels, gummies, effervescent tablets, powders, sachets, and liquid formulations. Our 500+ ready-made formulae serve 51+ domestic and global clients.
They are now building out commercial engine and seeking a CEO who can unlock the full revenue potential and drive to profitability.
Role Overview
The CEO will be the primary commercial leader of Company, responsible for transforming the company from its current stage into a high-growth, profitable enterprise. Working directly with the Founder/MD and alongside the VP – Operations (Plant Head), the CEO will own all revenue, client, distribution, procurement, and P&L outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Revenue Growth & Sales Leadership
- Own the top line: set revenue targets, build a sales pipeline, and relentlessly drive closures.
- Acquire new B2B clients — nutraceutical brands, pharma companies, wellness startups, and retailers — seeking a contract manufacturing or private label partner.
- Build and manage a high-performing sales team; hire, train, and incentivize territory and key account managers.
- Develop a domestic distribution network across general trade, modern trade, hospital pharmacies, and e-commerce channels.
2. International Business Development
- Leverage our WHO-GMP/FDA/EU-GMP compliance and create global partnerships/collaborations to aggressively grow export revenues.
- Identify and onboard international distributors and brand partners across target geographies (USA, UK, UAE, SE Asia, Africa).
- Navigate international regulatory requirements to expand market access.
3. Purchase & Vendor Management
- Lead procurement strategy: identify, negotiate with, and manage raw material and packaging vendors.
- Ensure cost-efficient, quality-compliant purchasing that supports both margins and regulatory standards.
- Build supply chain resilience and reduce procurement costs through strategic sourcing.
- Coordinate with VP Operations to accomplish this rather than go into details
4. P&L Ownership & Financial Oversight
- Own the full P&L; build the company’s path from current losses to sustainable profitability.
- Manage budgeting, cost control, pricing strategy, and working capital with CFO.
- Report regularly to the Founder/MD on revenue, margins, burn, and KPIs.
5. Team Building & Organizational Development
- Assess current organizational gaps and hire for key commercial roles (sales, marketing, procurement, logistics).
- Create a performance culture: set clear KPIs, conduct reviews, and build accountability across teams.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration between the commercial team and the manufacturing/operations team.
6. Brand & Marketing Strategy
- Develop or oversee a go-to-market strategy for Sankalp’s own product portfolio.
- Build brand visibility among B2B clients, trade partners, and in relevant industry forums and events.
- Supervise digital and trade marketing to generate inbound leads and support the sales funnel.
What We Are Looking For
Mandatory Requirements
- 15+ years of progressive experience in nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, FMCG, or allied healthcare industries.
- Demonstrated track record of building and scaling sales/distribution networks in India.
- Prior P&L ownership at a business unit or company level.
- Experience in B2B sales and contract manufacturing / private label businesses.
- Strong negotiation skills with vendors, distributors, and institutional clients.
- Willingness to relocate to Ahmedabad and travel extensively across India and internationally.
Strongly Preferred
- Prior experience at a nutraceuticals or pharma manufacturer in a commercial leadership role.
- Exposure to international markets and export compliance (FDA, WHO, EU-GMP frameworks).
- Experience hiring and building commercial teams from scratch.
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification in business/management.
