Job Summary:
The Stocker is responsible for maintaining inventory levels, organizing merchandise, and ensuring the sales floor and stockroom are clean, safe, and well-stocked. This role supports daily store operations by unloading shipments, stocking shelves, and providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and organize incoming freight and merchandise
- Stock shelves, displays, and end caps according to company standards
- Ensure all products are properly labeled and priced
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of stockroom and sales floor
- Assist with inventory counts and restocking as needed
- Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or discrepancies
- Follow safety procedures when handling equipment and merchandise
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service when assisting shoppers
- Support store team with general tasks and daily operations
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous retail or stocking experience is a plus
- Ability to lift, carry, and move merchandise (up to 50 lbs or more)
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- Ability to operate basic stocking equipment (hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.)
Work Environment:
- Retail store setting (hardware/home improvement environment)
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor conditions depending on store needs
