Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Social Studies Teacher to join our educational team at Central Middle School and Central High School. With CMS and CHS located next to each other, travel between the buildings should not be a concern.
The ideal candidate will foster a dynamic and engaging learning environment for students in grades 8-12, promoting critical thinking, cultural awareness, and civic responsibility. The teacher will develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with state standards and encourages students to explore historical events, geographical concepts, and societal issues.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the diverse needs of students and align with state standards.
- Create a stimulating classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love for learning.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, projects, and examinations, providing constructive feedback.
- Integrate technology and multimedia resources into the curriculum to enhance student engagement and understanding.
- Collaborate with other educators, staff, and administration to support the overall educational goals of the school.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress and behavioral concerns.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in teaching and educational trends.
- Organize and participate in extracurricular activities related to social studies, such as clubs, field trips, and community service projects.
- Maintain a safe and respectful classroom environment that promotes inclusivity and diversity.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Studies, History, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Social Studies for middle school and high school.
- Strong knowledge of social studies curriculum and instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Proven ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Familiarity with educational technology and its application in the classroom.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
