Job Description
Catts Construction Inc. is a general contractor based in northeast Ohio, who is seeking to hire a
Project Engineer intern for its Heavy Highway Division working out of West Virginia.
As the Project Engineer Intern your key responsibility will be to assist the project manager and/or superintendent in one or more aspects of a construction project as follows:
Contractual
- Coordinating with Subs, vendors, suppliers, and construction project team members.
- Create correspondence with owners, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, and others.
- Recognize changing conditions with respect to the contract and notify appropriate parties.
- Administering and monitoring compliance with construction contracts with Owners, subcontractors, and vendors
- Take weekly jobsite photographs.
- Coordinating and expediting materials and services for the job site, in conjunction with superintendent
- Assist with project close-out activities.
Engineering
- Interpret designs and drawings; prepare accurate takeoffs.
- Verify work-in-place quantities for invoicing/pay quantities; verify accurate payment to subcontractors and material suppliers.
- Maintain as-built drawings to compare original plans to final, true outcomes.
- Ensure all completed work complies with applicable codes, drawings, specifications, and special provisions, coordinate inspections and testing.
Accounting
- Prepare accurate and timely construction financial data, monitor and track costs for force accounts.
- Ensure prompt and accurate payment applications to the owner, payment of subcontractors, purchase orders, and invoices.
- Maintain job costing system and update systems to reflect forecasts.
- Generate and distribute weekly manhour reports and at a minimum, monthly pay applications.
- Assist with the preparation of project status reports and participate in project status meetings; assist in the development of meeting minutes.
- Issuing the subcontract change order upon approval of the change by project owner.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is close to graduation in the construction field, to get much needed hands on experience over the summer time frame. Candidate will also be considered for full-time position following graduation.
