We are hiring for Category Planning Lead – Omni channel (Retail, D2C, Marketplace)
Location – Yelchenahalli, Bangalore (On-Site)
Preferably candidates from NIFT/FDDI
Experience: 5-6 years

Role Summary:
Category Planner expert in product category planning who brings strong analytical depth,
advanced product understanding, and the ability to build systems from scratch.
This role demands someone who can create clarity in chaos, streamline processes, and drive merchandising decisions that balance creativity, commercial viability, and consumer demand across D2C, marketplaces, and retail. You will be responsible for shaping category strategy, improving inventory efficiency, and establishing scalable planning processes that support rapid growth.

- Work with VP of sales to deliver higher profitability on inventory

Key Responsibilities:
1. Merchandising Strategy & Category Mix
• Build and execute seasonal merchandising strategies across channels.
• Define category mix, pricing architecture, and SKU depth using consumer insights and historical data.
• Ensure assortments are trend-right, commercially strong, and aligned with brand identity.
• Create frameworks and SOPs for assortment planning to bring consistency and clarity.
2. Inventory Planning, Buying & System Building
• Forecast demand with high accuracy and plan inventory to optimise sell-through.
• Build structured buying calendars, replenishment systems, and inventory control processes.
• Collaborate with sourcing and production teams to ensure timely procurement.
• Monitor stock movement, aging inventory, and replenishment cycles with clear dashboards
3. Consumer & Market Insights
• Analyse consumer behaviour, sales trends, and competitor activity
• Translate insights into actionable merchandising decisions and assortment shifts.
• Identify emerging trends and recommend new product opportunities.
• Build repeatable insight frameworks that guide future seasons
4. Product Knowledge & Decision Making
• Maintain strong understanding of footwear categories, materials, constructions, and design trends.
• Partner with design and marketing teams to ensure product storytelling aligns with merchandising
intent.
• Make data-driven decisions to maximise revenue, improve sell-through, and reduce markdowns.
• Build clarity by simplifying complex data into actionable direction for teams.
5. Process Streamlining & Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Establish systems, SOPs, and structured workflows for merchandising, buying, and inventory
management.
• Work closely with design, sourcing, e-commerce, marketplace, and retail teams.
• Align merchandising plans with marketing campaigns, promoRons, and launches.
• Support visual merchandising and product presentation across online and offline channels.
• Bring clarity, structure, and predictability to fast-moving cross-functional environments.
