Role Overview
As the Category Lead for English, you will hold the "keys to the kingdom" for our English language and communication programs. You are responsible for the entire lifecycle of the category—from the pedagogical strategy and curriculum depth to the commercial success and P&L growth. You will lead a high-performing team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to make Codeyoung the global leader in K-12 English education.
Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Leadership & P&L Ownership
- Drive Revenue: Take full ownership of the English category’s P&L, including revenue targets, gross margins, and customer lifetime value (LTV).
- Market Expansion: Identify growth opportunities in international markets (US, Middle East, Europe) and adapt the English category strategy to local curriculum standards (Common Core, British Curriculum, etc.).
- Retention & NPS: Monitor student learning outcomes and feedback to drive industry-leading retention rates and Net Promoter Scores.
2. Pedagogical & Curriculum Excellence
- Visionary Roadmap: Define the long-term academic vision for English, moving beyond "grammar" to focus on 21st-century skills like public speaking, creative writing, and critical thinking.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and scale a team of English SMEs. Ensure they produce world-class content, lesson plans, and teacher manuals.
- Quality Control: Establish rigorous quality benchmarks for live class delivery and student assessments.
3. Cross-Functional Growth Catalyst
- GTM Strategy: Collaborate with the Marketing team to define the "English" value proposition and help create high-converting marketing campaigns.
- Sales Enablement: Train the sales and academic counseling teams on the unique USPs of our English curriculum to improve conversion rates.
- Product Synergy: Partner with the Product team to integrate tech-led learning tools (gamification, AI feedback) into the English learning journey.
Required Candidate Profile
- Experience: 5–8 years of experience in Category Management, Product Leadership, or Business Unit Head roles within the EdTech or Education sector.
- Domain Expertise: A strong background in English Literature, Linguistics, or Communication. You should "know" what makes a great English program.
- P&L Acumen: Proven track record of managing a business unit where you were responsible for growth metrics and budget management.
- Leadership: Experience managing a team of at least 5+ academic or content professionals.
- Startup Mindset: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where you need to be both a "thinker" and a "doer."
