About The Team
The Emerging Markets team drives eBay’s cross-border trade business across more than 170 countries. The team is located across different countries and helps our sellers connect their unique inventory with over 134 million buyers globally.
Our team plays a pivotal role in accelerating category growth, enabling seller success, and expanding eBay’s global marketplace footprint.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly driven and strategic
Category Manager to lead growth initiatives across key categories within eBay’s Cross Border Trade business.
In this role, you will own category performance end-to-end including business growth, seller ecosystem development, assortment expansion, and strategic execution. You will work closely with enterprise sellers, partners, and cross-functional teams to unlock new opportunities and scale category performance globally.
The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter with strong business acumen, analytical rigor, and stakeholder management skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Category & Business Management
- Own the end-to-end business performance and growth strategy for assigned categories, including GMV, seller growth, and key business metrics
- Define and execute category strategies covering selection expansion, pricing, promotions, and seller experience
- Identify emerging market trends, competitive insights, and whitespace opportunities to drive sustainable growth;
- Identify, onboard, and scale high-potential sellers and strategic partners within the cross-border ecosystem; Build and manage strong relationships with enterprise sellers, brands, and marketplace partners
- Partner closely with Product, Marketing, Analytics, Operations, and Seller Success teams to deliver category growth initiatives
- Leverage data and business insights to measure impact, identify opportunities, and improve decision-making
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Category Management, Business Development, Consulting, or E-commerce/Marketplace environments
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Economics, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience using data to drive business decisions
- Proven track record of building and scaling businesses, categories, or seller ecosystems
- Experience managing enterprise seller or strategic partner relationships
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with strong ownership and execution focus
- Understanding of cross-border trade and global e-commerce ecosystems is a plus
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
