About the Founder
Balu Ramachandran is the Founder and CEO of OC Academy. He is a proven business leader in the Indian internet ecosystem with experience across fintech and online travel space. He is a strong believer in the internet and technology. Balu has been the P&L owner at Cleartrip for a 10-100X scaling journey, where he ran B2C and B2B business verticals, consumer product and performance marketing for a $1.5Bn GMV travel business spread across India and 6 GCC countries. Prior to founding OC Academy, Balu was the P&L owner at Simpl, enabling a transformational 1-10X journey for one of India’s fastest growing fintech companies.
Role Overview
We are looking for a highly driven and entrepreneurial Lead – New Courses to launch, build, and scale OC Academy’s new course portfolio. This is a 0–1 role that will own the end-to-end lifecycle of new medical programs — from identifying unmet learning needs of Indian doctors to faculty collaboration, partnerships, and go-to-market execution.
The role will work closely with the Founder and with Sales, Marketing, Product, and external academic partners to establish OC Academy as a trusted leader in medical upskilling.
Key Responsibilities
1. New Course Strategy & Development (Core Ownership)
- Own the 0–1 launch of new medical courses aligned with the evolving upskilling needs of doctors and healthcare professionals.
- Define the course roadmap, prioritizing high-impact specialties and practice-relevant programs.
- Design comprehensive, industry-relevant curricula in collaboration with faculty and curriculum partners.
- Ensure academic rigor, clinical relevance, and real-world applicability across all programs.
2. Faculty & Academic Partnerships
- Collaborate with esteemed faculty, KOLs, universities, hospitals, and research centers (India & International).
- Build and manage an alliances framework for content partnerships and hands-on learning programs
- Ensure strong alignment between faculty objectives, course content, and practitioner needs.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to:
- Shape course positioning and value propositions
- Act as a liaison between medical expertise and marketing strategy
- Support go-to-market planning and execution
- Serve as a sounding board for marketing communications to ensure credibility and resonance with doctors.
4.Business & Alliance Execution
- Identify and qualify new business and partnership opportunities by analyzing industry trends.
- Define joint offerings with partners and coordinate GTM execution with internal teams
- Support proposal development, business cases, and ROI models related to new courses and alliances.
- Demonstrate competence across the sales lifecycle, from concept to launch.
Qualifications & Experience
- Medical Degree: MBBS / BDS / BAMS & MBA from a Tier-1 institute (preferred)
- Experience: 8–10 years
- Exceptional track record of success in similar leadership roles
- Prior experience in startups or high-growth environments catering to medical professionals strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of the Indian healthcare and medical education ecosystem.
