Role Objective
The Category Head – will be responsible for driving end-to-end category growth, brand positioning, top line achievement & profitability for assigned product categories (e.g., pens, markers, stationery). The role focuses on strategic planning, product lifecycle management, and market expansion to strengthen category leadership.
Key Responsibilities
1. Category Strategy & Growth
- Develop and execute category-wise marketing strategies aligned with overall business objectives.
- Drive top-line growth, market share, and profitability for the assigned category.
- Identify new opportunities, segments, and geographies for expansion.
2. Product & Portfolio Management
- Manage entire product lifecycle – from ideation to launch and sustenance growth
- Define SKU strategy, pricing, and positioning across segments (premium, mass, student, office).
- Monitor product performance and recommend portfolio optimization.
- Ownership of category architecture & synergy
3. Market Research & Consumer Insights
- Conduct market, competitor, and consumer analysis to identify trends and demand gaps.
- Translate insights into actionable marketing and product strategies. .
4. New Product Development (NPD)
- Collaborate with R&D/design teams for new product innovation, packaging and launches.
- Conduct feasibility studies, pricing analysis, and go-to-market planning.
5. Sales & Trade Marketing Alignment
- Work closely with sales teams to drive distribution, visibility, and retail execution.
- Support dealer activations, trade schemes, Category POSM and channel marketing initiatives across GT, MT, Exports, EC & Corporate Sales.
6. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and mentor brand/category teams.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams – Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, Product.
- Manage external agencies.
Skills/Experience
- Deep understanding of FMCG / stationery market dynamics
- Expertise in brand management & consumer marketing
- Strong hold on category planning & Driving Sales growth
- Data-driven decision-making and market insight orientation
- Leadership & team management skills
- Data-driven decision-making and market insight orientation
- Operational Efficiency
- 12–15 years of experience in Stationery/Consumer goods marketing
