Role Overview
The Category Growth Analyst serves as the primary analytical engine for the business unit. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive revenue, inventory efficiency, and profitability.
This is a role for a data-savvy professional who excels in SQL and Excel and wants to see their technical skills translate into real-world business impact.
We are not just looking for someone who can write code; we need a thinker. You must possess strong logical reasoning to break down complex, vague business problems into structured analyses. You will be expected to drive projects on your own, taking full ownership of the data without needing constant supervision. If you are a proactive problem-solver who loves digging into the "why" behind the numbers, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Analysis & Technical Execution
• Utilize SQL to query large, complex datasets independently (Joins, Aggregations, Sub-queries) to extract key metrics regarding category performance.
• Build and maintain advanced Excel models to simulate pricing scenarios, forecast inventory needs, and track profitability.
• Apply logical frameworks to unstructured data to identify root causes of performance dips or growth spikes.
2. Strategic Support & Performance Tracking
• Proactively monitor competitor pricing and assortment gaps to recommend tactical adjustments. • Analyze customer behavior and basket data to identify cross-selling opportunities and improve bundle mechanics.
• Track the performance of marketing campaigns and onsite visibility to ensure Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) efficiency. 3. Reporting & Automation
• Develop and automate daily/weekly dashboards to track KPIs against business targets.
• Streamline data collection processes to reduce manual reporting time and increase accuracy.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Act as the data bridge between the Category team and key stakeholders in Finance, Marketing, and Supply Chain.
• Translate complex data sets into clear, visual presentations for stakeholders during business reviews.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Business, or a related quantitative field.
• 2–5 years of experience in a Business Analyst, Commercial Analyst, or Data Analyst role. Technical Skills (Must-Haves):
• Excel: Mastery of VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, Index/Match, Pivot Tables, and financial modeling is required.
• SQL Proficiency: Strong ability to write complex queries to extract and manipulate data from data warehouses independently.
Key Competencies (Soft Skills):
• Strong Logical Reasoning: Ability to decompose high-level business questions into executed data logic. You can spot when data "doesn't look right" and investigate immediately.
• High Ownership & Autonomy: Ability to drive on your own. You don't wait for instructions; you identify gaps in the data and propose solutions proactively.
• Business Acumen: You understand that data is a means to an end—driving Revenue and Margin is the goal.
• Resilience: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where priorities can shift.
Who will excel?
- We’re looking for people with high standards, who understand that hard work matters.
- You need to be relentlessly resourceful and operate with a deep bias for action.
