Summary of Performance Expectations.
The paramedic collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team to provide care as appropriate to the population served and in compliance with standards of practice. The paramedic will provide care to patients under the supervision of the Provider. The Emergency Department Medical Director will provide oversight for Paramedic clinical practice. Generally, follows the standard emergency medical services (EMS) paramedic patient care treatment protocols set forth by the North Carolina EMS systems except where they are superceded orders from the attending physician or licensed mid-level provider.
Education and Credentials: Required • Successful completion of a Paramedic Training Program (OEMS approved).
• Current North Carolina Paramedic Certification (National registry preferred).
• Certification in BLS required upon employment.
• Completion of CPI course required within three months of employment.
• Certification in ACLS and PALS required within three months of employment.
Preferred Work Experience: Required One year of experience. Given training and on-the-job experience, incumbent should be proficient in basic aspects of job within three months of employment date.
