Brief Job Overview

The Cash Application Specialist is part of the Accounts Receivable team and supports accurate and timely posting of customer payments. Reporting to the Team Lead, Accounts Receivable, this non‑supervisory role is responsible for daily cash application activities, basic reconciliations, and identification of exceptions for escalation. The role operates within clearly defined SOPs and controls and supports month‑end close activities.

The Cash Application Specialist Role Has The Following Responsibilities

  • Posts daily cash from lockbox, ACH, wires, checks, and internal transfers with accuracy.
  • Performs routine reconciliations and resolves basic unapplied cash items.
  • Reviews remittance details and maintains complete documentation for audit purposes.
  • Identifies exceptions or discrepancies and escalates complex issues to Senior Cash Application staff or Team Lead.
  • Supports month-end close activities, including suspense clean-up under supervision.
  • Adheres to SOPs, service-level expectations, and internal controls.
  • Performs other assigned duties within the cash application function.

Who is USP Looking For?

The Successful Candidate Will Have a Demonstrated Understanding Of Our Mission, Commitment To Excellence Through Inclusive And Equitable Behaviors And Practices, Ability To Quickly Build Credibility With Stakeholders, Along With The Following Competencies And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of Cash Application experience and Account Reconciliation experience.
  • Exposure to lockbox processing and payment application.
  • Basic Understanding of Order to Cash processes
  • Experience working with ERP systems (Oracle E-Business Suite preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)

Additional Desired Preferences

  • Experience performing AR/Cash Application functions for a global organization
  • General understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability and desire to work well with diverse employees and customers in a cooperative and friendly manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Able to work flexible hours when needed
