Job Title: Cash Application Specialist
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cash Application Specialist to support our
growing accounting team. This role is responsible for accurately applying incoming
payments, reconciling cash activity, and resolving discrepancies across multiple bank
accounts. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates
effectively across teams, and can adapt to the evolving needs of an acquisition-driven
organization.
Key Responsibilities:
• Apply incoming cash from multiple bank accounts to customer invoices within the
ERP system in a timely and accurate manner
• Reconcile daily cash transactions to bank statements and investigate any
discrepancies
• Research and resolve unidentified or unclear payments by determining appropriate
accounts, collaborating with internal teams, and following up with relevant
stakeholders
• Partner closely with the Accounts Receivable team to ensure accurate application
of cash, including:
o Communicating when cash is posted to accounts without being applied to
specific invoices
o Collaborating to determine the correct business unit, customer account, or
invoice when details are unclear
o Proactively addressing and resolving application discrepancies to prevent
aging issues
• Track and manage overpayments, duplicate payments, unapplied cash, and short
payments, ensuring proper resolution and documentation
• Assist in cash reconciliation processes and support month-end close activities
• Maintain organized and audit-ready records of all cash activity, adjustments, and
supporting documentation
• Identify opportunities to improve cash application processes and enhance
efficiency across systems and workflows
Qualifications:
• 2+ years of experience in cash applications, accounts receivable, or a related
accounting function
• Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite experience required.
• Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple bank accounts and high transaction volumes
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across
teams, especially with AR
• Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to changing processes and priorities
Preferred Skills:
• Experience working in a high-growth or acquisition-driven environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar reporting tools
• Ability to analyze data and present clear, actionable insights
