We're seeking a detail-oriented Data Annotation & Case Manager to join our legal tech team in India. In this hybrid role, you'll split your time equally between annotating legal documents and managing cases as a liaison between users and lawyers. You'll be responsible for ensuring the quality of training data for our AI systems while also providing bilingual support and case management services. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of legal services, customer support, and artificial intelligence with a US-based startup.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Annotation (50% of role):
- Annotate and categorize legal documents with high accuracy and attention to detail
- Review and validate annotations to maintain quality standards
- Develop and maintain annotation guidelines and documentation in Notion
- Identify patterns and insights from legal documents to improve our AI models
Case Management (50% of role):
- Serve as a liaison between users and lawyers, understanding and responding to various situations
- Translate communications between English and Spanish using translation tools
- Manage case files and ensure proper organization of legal data using Google Drive, Sheets, and Notion
- Track case progress using Google Sheets and provide regular updates to stakeholders
- Communicate effectively with both clients and legal professionals to ensure smooth case workflows
- Assess user needs and situations to provide appropriate responses and escalate when necessary
General:
- Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to improve annotation workflows
- Participate in team meetings during US business hours (typically early morning or late evening IST)
- Maintain organized digital filing systems across Google Drive and other platforms
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (legal background is a plus but not required)
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with zero tolerance for errors
- Strong organizational and case management skills
- Demonstrated high work ethic and ability to meet deadlines consistently
- Proficiency with Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Notion (or similar productivity tools)
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to translate between English and Spanish using translation tools effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to understand and respond to user situations with empathy
- Comfortable communicating with both end users and legal professionals
- Comfortable working with technology and learning new tools quickly
- Flexibility to attend meetings during US business hours (PST/EST) as needed
- Interest in legal technology and AI applications
- Must be based in India and authorized to work in India
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with data annotation, legal research, or case management
- Familiarity with legal terminology and document types
- Experience working with US-based teams or clients
- Previous remote work experience with international teams
- Native or fluent proficiency in Spanish (in addition to English)
- Experience in customer service or client-facing roles
