About the Department
This position will assist Public Works staff with different aspects field and office operations related to highway construction, land surveying, and other functions of Public Works. The position may be assigned to a single project or multiple projects over the course of employment and will be directed and supervised by either the Engineering or Surveying & Mapping departments of Public Works. There is neither a guarantee of continual hours or guarantee of future employment, nor County benefits, except as mandated by state and federal law or as specifically referenced in the Personnel Policy Manual. Employment will not extend beyond 09/01/2026.
Position Duties
Some of the following duties and responsibilities will be required depending upon the expected tasks as determined by the supervisor.
• Construction inspection assistance
• Field crew assistance
• Office staff assistance
• GPS/GIS field collection of PLSS data and Public Works asset inventory attributes
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED - preferably with some Civil Engineering or Land Surveying field experience or post-secondary education.
• A valid Minnesota driver license.
Other Qualifications
All applications will be screened for minimum qualifications, scored and ranked. The highest ranked candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be recommended for the scored oral examinations (interviews). Final selection for the position will include successful completion of oral interview(s), reference checks, background investigation, and pre-placement physical.
