About the Role We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Web Frontend Engineering Intern to join our Engineering team! This internship provides hands-on experience in web development, and offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals. During the 6-month internship, you will: Learn to develop highly-available, distributed microservices on a modern tech stack and infrastructure Gain proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, gRPC, and React while creating seamless user experiences across both desktop and mobile platforms using responsive design. Learn to integrate APIs and build in-house services to enhance the functionality of the Carousell platform. Learn how to operate in a full stack product engineering team comprising of backend, native app and web engineers Learn how to collaborate with non-tech stakeholders like designers, product managers and other functions Experience how product engineering and software development projects are managed and executed in a regional modern tech company. *Internship Period: 6 months (both full-time and part-time are available, contract starting 2025 February) You will: Program well-designed, maintainable, testable and efficient code Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems Deploy programs and evaluate user feedback Participate in code reviews to maintain a high-quality code culture Discuss and communicate actively with your mentor and other engineers in the company to seek idea and feedback Qualifications You have: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master's degree program Knowledge of one or more of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and modern JavaScript libraries Passion for writing software and learning the latest software development techniques Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Self-motivated with strong propensity for action, results and continuous improvement A solid foundation in computer science, with competencies in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented software design Available for at least 3 working days per week as a part-time intern. Bonus Points: Major in Computer Science or related field Excellent communication skill in English (speaking and writing)
