Purpose of the job

(Ensure the) Design, develop, test, and implement IT solutions and processes in IT systems like applications, platforms and networks through IT changes, projects in line with global Information Technology (IT) and security guidelines, to support company business requirements to create company value. The Technical Engineer in IT Operations is responsible for detailing design and hardwiring business requirements as per Architectural and Security guidelines. This is done through projects, changes and increasingly more through Agile DevOps teams. This requires high quality stories (change specifications) and projects changes which will allow Engineers and or Developers to translate into code/configuration. The Technical Engineer is responsible for delivering high quality stories (change specifications) for Infrastructure teams to then execute as changes to our landscape (networks, servers / hosting, workplaces). The Technical Engineer has an active role in the preparation and execution of the actual changes together with our strategic partners and external consultants. He/she actively oversees work in progress, monitors status, and signs-off after testing. Other critical elements of the role are Incident Management and Process Improvement.

2. Key responsibilities & required skills

 

Must/Should Have Total 10+ years of experience with SAP ABAP/HANA development, SAP archiving. Extensive experience in development, support and customization in various areas of SAP ECC (SD,MM,PP,FICO etc) Ability to work independently on projects and quickly understand business processes. Experience in analyzing the data growth using (DB02, TANA, DVM) for both technical and functional objects. Design data archiving policies in accordance with the company's & legal compliance requirements for various regions. Monitoring of housekeeping + scheduled archiving activities and recommending actions based on the data growth analysis Data archiving skills in both ILM and non-ILM is mandatory. Well versed with the most common archiving objects like IDOC, CHANGEDOCU, SOFFCONT1, WORKITEM, DBLOGS, SBAL, MM, PP, SD (VBRK, VBAK), FI and CO

Expertise in hands on setup of SAP data archiving (SARA - SARI), ILM, DART, SAP Content Server, OpenText, Azure Blob and SAP IQ. Knowledge in ILM Data Archiving including ILM destruction, DART, SAP Content Server, ABAP and third - party OpenText/ IXOS including hands-on experience and user support. Knowledge of implementing archiving objects based on ILM rules in accordance with GDPR compliance, meaning creation of policies, audit areas, destruction rules etc. Functional experience in one or more Application components such as Data Tiering/Native Storage Extension. Experience in resolution of issues and incidents tickets raised by users Knowledge of PBS & TJC (Archiving session cockpit) Strong Functional skillset from FI / CO, MM and Logistics. Experience with S/4 HANA or ECC in at least one Functional module. Communicating appropriately and in a timely manner with the requester, the business, and the various stakeholders that this role will need to interface with, including Hosting Operations, IT, etc. Guide, coordinate and oversee the preparation and execution and implementation of the (project) changes related to SAP Abap/Archiving Work closely with the project team (internal and external) to assure a timely solution. Run multiple project activities simultaneously, working with internal and external cross-functional groups. Must be proactive and self-motivated. Must be easily understood and possess excellent English communication skills, both verbal and writing skills. Exposure to ITIL framework - Incident management Perform functional or technical problem analysis in case of incidents or issues as needed depending on the severity of the problem. Perform root cause analysis, document these and share findings. Deploy (or oversee deployment) of updates and fixes. To ensure that issues, incidents, and problems are swiftly and effectively resolved. Process management and improvement Monitor, guard, test and analyze that the use and security of applications and systems regarding the functional and performance aspects are in line with the agreed performance indicators, and if necessary, take measures. Actively contribute to process improvement: e.g., tool development, dashboard/insight development and visualization, script automation. Has a good view of the technical state of the application (technical debt) and regularly discuss and works seamlessly together with the (domain)Architect to develop plans to resolve the technical debt. Resulting in, available and optimally performing applications and IT infrastructure for the business and, DevOps process, tooling and dashboards are continuously improving.
