Role Overview
The University is looking for a Career Counsellor to guide undergraduate and postgraduate students in making informed career decisions. The candidate will support students with career exploration, internships, placements, higher education, and overall professional development.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct one-on-one career counselling sessions with university students.
• Help students identify suitable career paths based on their interests, skills, academic background, and career goals.
• Guide students on internships, placements, higher education, research, entrepreneurship, and alternative career opportunities.
• Support students with resume building, LinkedIn profiles, cover letters, portfolios, and job applications.
• Conduct mock interviews, group discussions, career workshops, and employability training sessions.
• Assist students in developing personalised career action plans.
• Stay updated on industry trends, emerging job roles, recruitment processes, and employer expectations.
• Coordinate with faculty members, placement teams, alumni, recruiters, and other university departments.
• Maintain confidential student records and track counselling outcomes.
Required Qualifications
• 4–7 years of relevant professional experience in career counselling, student development, higher education, employability, or a related field.
• Prior experience working specifically as a Career Counsellor, preferably with university students or young adults, will be an advantage.
• Exposure to industries is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in conducting individual counselling sessions, career workshops, employability programmes, and student-development initiatives.
• Experience in higher education, placements, internships, recruitment, or career-services functions will be an advantage.
Preferred Candidate Profile
The preferred candidate will be an experienced Career Counsellor who combines empathy and active listening with structured, evidence-based career guidance. The individual should be able to help students move from career uncertainty to a clear and achievable action plan while maintaining objectivity, confidentiality, and a student-first approach
