About the role

The Capital District YMCA is in search of a Director of Human Resources at our Administrative Offices located in Colonie, NY!

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the overall management and direction of human resource programs and functions for the association including short and long-term strategies to attract, develop and retain a qualified workforce. This includes development and administration of human resource policies and programs; responsibility for the development of payroll and benefits programs, policies and administration, training and staff development, wage and salary maintenance/administration, recruitment and selection, employee relations and the compliance of all personnel related records and legal compliance of the Association. As a member of the Management Team of the organization, participates in the management and direction of the Association and accepts assignments that may contribute to that objective.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee the development and administration of employee benefits program, compensation plan, pay policies and the Association performance management process. Monitor each for effectiveness and cost containment.
  • Develop and administer job classifications/descriptions, including classifying and re-classifying positions.
  • Structure a program that ensures the development and implementation of progressive Human Resource policies which support the Association goals.
  • Effectively coordinate and advise on the recruitment/selection process for Association vacancies. Implements effective and innovative recruitment methods and monitors the success of such.
  • Develop and deliver Association staff development and recognition programs; including New Employee Orientation, association-wide management trainings; and YMCA of the USA Training and Certifications and other trainings as needed.
  • Ensure that the organization is in compliance with applicable state, local and federal regulations; identifies legal requirements affecting human resource functions within the Association.
  • Develop and implement training programs for staff across the Association on human resources regulatory issues and management development topics.
  • Structure human resource and employee relation activities to provide rewards and recognition for all employees.
  • Monitor employee relations and advise management staff as needed. Create monitoring tools to measure such.
  • Advise and participate in the hiring and selecting, supervision and development plans for all staff.
  • Oversee and direct the payroll process, system and gathering of such time and attendance data for the Association ensuring delivery, compliance and monitoring of such.
  • Oversee and ensure the efficient record keeping of personnel related data.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or related field. Advanced degree and certification preferred.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years experience in the human resources field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, combined with skills in the areas of organizational development, problem solving and decision-making.
  • The ability to relate to a decentralized organization; using a service orientation approach.
  • The ability to work well with volunteers.

Salary Range: $95,500 - $110,000 Annually
