Machine Learning Engineer Canopy Labs San Francisco, CA / Remote Full-time About Bits to Atoms Bits to Atoms connects exceptional talent with mission-driven companies. Our partner company, Canopy Labs, is looking to hire a Machine Learning Engineer to help develop digital humans that are indistinguishable from real humans. Company Overview Canopy Labs is building digital humans that can: Hold real-time, multimodal video interactions that look and sound ultra-realistic Intelligently control their body: write, gesticulate, clap, etc. Exhibit spatial awareness: walk around and interact with their environment Their mission is to bring virtual humans to life through cutting-edge generative models, enabling natural, embodied AI interactions at scale. Key Responsibilities Design and develop machine learning models for various AI applications Collaborate with the research team to implement and scale state-of-the-art algorithms Optimize model performance, both in terms of accuracy and computational efficiency Work with engineering teams to integrate ML models into our product infrastructure Stay current with the latest advancements in ML/AI research and technologies Desired Background Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with ML frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow Experience with large language models (LLMs) and transformer architectures Demonstrated ability to bring ML models from research into production Active interest in reading and applying the latest ML/AI research Preferred Experience Experience with distributed training and large-scale model deployment Contributions to open-source ML projects Publications in ML/AI conferences Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure We're especially interested in candidates who combine deep technical skill with curiosity, adaptability, and the drive to build novel, production-ready systems.
