Role Summary: The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting the Finance & Accounting function, with a primary focus on general ledger accounting and financial operations under the direction of the Controller. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting close processes, and assisting with accounts payable and receivable. In addition, the role provides support for payroll and benefits administration. Role Summary: The Staff Accountant plays a key role in the daily operations of the Finance & Accounting department by managing and executing tasks related to general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and administrative support. This position ensures accurate financial record-keeping, assists with month-end and year-end closings, and contributes to internal controls and process improvements. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles and systems.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and post recurring, adjusting, and accrual journal entries; maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts including cash, prepaid expenses, accruals, intercompany transactions, and fixed assets, including monthly depreciation calculations.
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, variance analysis, discrepancy investigation, and preparation of internal financial statements and audit-ready schedules.
Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities as needed, including invoice processing, payment application, reconciliations, and aging analysis to support overall cash flow management.
Support payroll and benefits processes under the direction of the Controller, including coordination of payroll inputs, benefits tracking, and ensuring accuracy of related accounting entries.
Serve as backup to the Payroll Administrator as needed, assisting with payroll processing and related activities during absences or peak periods.
Maintain organized financial records and filing systems (digital and physical); prepare reports, spreadsheets, and correspondence for internal review; respond to internal and external financial inquiries; and assist with audit preparation and documentation.
Contribute to internal controls, compliance procedures, and process improvements across accounting, payroll, and benefits functions.
Support administrative and operational processes including expense tracking, departmental compliance procedures, document retention, confidentiality standards, and overall finance operations support.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
1–3 years of relevant accounting experience (GL/AP/AR exposure required).
Exposure to or familiarity with payroll processes and related accounting preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Epicor).
Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP accounting principles.
Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of relevant accounting experience.
Experience supporting payroll and/or benefits administration.
Aerospace & defense industry experience.
Multi-entity experience.
Audit experience.
Additional Requirements
Willingness to work long hours and weekends when needed to meet critical deadlines
Willingness to travel to customers’ locations or other MSM sites as needed
Ability to use a computer and most common software programs to complete assignments
Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone and online

Business Hours:7:30 - 4:30PM
Base Salary Range: $70K - $85K
Base Location: Riverside / Ontario
Travel: No travel
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
