About the role
We seek an experienced, energetic educator to lead our Cambridge Primary Programme (Stages 1–5) while teaching Primary English. This combined role drives high-quality, inquiry‑based international learning, aligns Cambridge frameworks with local needs, and cultivates literacy and global competencies in learners. Reporting to the Academic Head, you will coordinate curriculum implementation, support teachers’ professional development, track pupil progress using Cambridge assessment tools, and deliver engaging English lessons that develop reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
Note on eligibility
Candidates who meet either of the following profiles are encouraged to apply:
- Profile A — Strong coordinator experience: educators with minimum 5 years’ primary teaching experience including 2–3 years coordinating Cambridge Primary or equivalent international curriculum programmes; or
- Profile B — Strong Primary English teacher: educators with demonstrated expertise teaching Primary English (minimum 2–3 years) in Cambridge/international/CBSE‑Cambridge schools, with strong subject knowledge and classroom practice.
- Applicants who satisfy at least one profile above — even if they do not meet every listed qualification — are welcome to apply.
Key responsibilities
- Lead implementation of the Cambridge Primary Curriculum across Stages 1–5: develop schemes of work, year plans, and differentiated lesson plans; ensure coherent progression and curriculum mapping.
- Teach Primary English (Grades 1–5): plan and deliver student‑centred lessons covering reading, writing, spoken language, grammar, and vocabulary; use stories, poems, drama, role‑play, digital resources, and activity‑based learning.
- Assessment and data use: administer and analyse Cambridge assessment tools (Progression Tests, Checkpoint preparation where applicable); maintain records, track attainment bands, identify gaps, and design interventions and enrichment.
- Teacher development and quality assurance: conduct lesson observations, give constructive feedback, run CPD workshops on Cambridge methodologies (active learning, SEAL, thinking skills), and support standardisation and moderation.
- Inclusion and differentiated learning: promote inclusive practices for diverse learners, coordinate support plans with SEN/learning support staff, and advise homeroom teachers on differentiation.
- Co‑curricular and learner attributes: design and coordinate co‑curricular activities and STEAM projects that develop Cambridge Learner Attributes (confident, responsible, reflective, innovative, engaged); lead participation in international events where relevant.
- Compliance and liaison: maintain records for Cambridge accreditation; liaise with Cambridge International for approvals, reporting, and inspections; ensure classroom resources meet programme requirements.
- Parent and community engagement: run workshops to explain the Cambridge framework, communicate student progress through reports and meetings, and respond to parent queries professionally.
- Resource management: recommend and manage procurement of textbooks, digital tools (e.g., Cambridge Online resources), classroom materials, and library support for literacy development.
- School duties: participate in staff meetings, assemblies, exhibitions, extracurricular events, and promote a safe, respectful, and motivating classroom environment.
Qualifications and experience
Preferred combined profile
- Postgraduate degree in Education (M.Ed. preferred) or Bachelor’s in English/English Literature plus a recognized teaching qualification (B.Ed./D.Ed. or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years’ primary teaching experience for coordinator profile; minimum 2–3 years’ primary English teaching for teacher profile.
- Cambridge training/certification (Primary Coordinator training, TIS, Checkpoint experience) strongly preferred.
- Demonstrable experience teaching Primary English with strong subject knowledge of grammar, literacy pedagogy, and assessment.
- Proficiency in MS Office, LMS platforms, and data analysis tools for tracking attainment.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English; proficiency in Hindi and/or Telugu preferred for parent engagement.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and mentoring skills.
