Astr Defence R&D is expanding its New Product Development (NPD) team and is looking for highly skilled CAM Engineers / VMC Programmers who can independently handle complex multi-axis machining for mission-critical components.
If you are passionate about precision, optimization, and advanced rotary machining — this role is for you.
Qualification – GTTC / NTTF / BE / Btech / Mtech CAD/CAM
🔧 Key Technical Requirements:
✔ Strong hands-on experience in mechanical CAM software such as Mastercam and Fusion 360
✔ Experience in VMC 4th axis programming – indexing & continuous rotary machining
✔ Expertise in fixturing strategies and orientation planning for rotary machining
✔ Proficiency in managing part positioning and toolpath wrapping on cylindrical features
✔ Strong understanding of:
- Z-level finishing
- Rest machining
- Scallop & morphing strategies
- Simulation & collision detection
✔ Hands-on experience with Fanuc controllers
✔ Good understanding of machine limits, spindle speeds, feed optimization & axis behavior
✔ Complete CAM → CNC workflow knowledge:
- Secure program transfer
- Dry run / Single block / Block delete verification
- On-machine validation
✔ Proven ability in cycle time optimization and reducing non-cuting time in multi-axis environments
🎯 Role Focus (NPD Environment)
- Programming complex precision parts from prototype to production
- Supporting industrialization of new defence products
- Improving machining efficiency without compromising accuracy
- Working closely with design & production teams
✅ Ideal Candidate
- 3–8 years CAM programming relevant experience
- Strong problem-solving mindset
- Exposure to tight tolerances & critical components preferred
- Ability to independently handle rotary machining jobs
