What you'll be doing:  

  • Architect and lead the implementation of Process Automation System (PAS) projects for continuous and batch applications. 
  • Analyze customer project requirements and develop detailed scope of work.
  • Work with customers to influence long-term automation plans and strategies, identify potential projects, and explain automation platforms, products, and service capabilities within a framework of financial justification.
  • Work with customers to develop project methodologies that will enhance their standards.
  • Work with customers’ process engineers to develop functional requirements.
  • Lead project teams responsible for the design, configuration, and testing of continuous and batch control strategies including operational graphics.
  • Plan, coordinate, and review the work of a project team.
  • Participate in or lead the start-up of complex systems at the customer’s facility.
  • Understand the project scope and financials; identify change orders and justify changes to Project Management.
  • Act as a liaison between the internal project team, internal management, and the customer.
  • Proactively develop customer relationships; anticipate and provide solutions to customer’s needs giving high priority to customer satisfaction.
  • Support project estimation.
  • Act as a mentor for individuals within the engineering organization.

What we are looking for: 

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • B.S. in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience including project delivery.
  • Comfortable leading technical interactions with customers. 
  • In-depth experience integrating field instrumentation for industrial applications
  • Valid Driver’s License issued in the United States and an acceptable driving record.
  • Prior experience in the Life Sciences industry with knowledge/familiarity of FDA regulations and compliance standards.  
  • Experience with Emerson’s DeltaV distributed control systems and other Process Control Platforms.  
  • Prior work experience with Emerson or its Impact / Business Partners is a plus! 
  • Experience with S95 and S88 project concepts and methodologies.  
  • Experience with field instrumentation used in industrial environments. 

 Preferred:

  • Experience with various process control systems including DCS, PLC and SCADA.
  • Experience with industry specific process control terminologies and standards. 
  • Experience with food & beverage, mining, or oil and gas a plus!

Hiring Range:

The hiring range for the Level II Automation Projects Engineer position is $110,000 - $125,000. The pay range for the Level III (Sr.) Automation Projects Engineer position is $130,000 - $150,000. This is the pay scale range Caltrol reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of this posting. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity. It may vary based on the geographic region, skills, qualifications, and experience of the candidate, along with the requirements of the position.

Work Environment / Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday. Standard business hours. This position may be eligible for Caltrol’s hybrid work program, allowing remote work for up to four days per week. 

Physical Demands: 

Normal office setting – also visits customer sites where the environment varies by industry. Sites may be loud with exposure to varying degrees of temperature. While on site, PPE may be required including wearing safety shoes. While on site, extended periods of walking and standing may be required. 

Travel:

Up to 25% travel to customer sites based on assigned projects, including overnights within the Caltrol territory, including local, AZ, CA, and NV.
