This position is open to active enrolled CUSM MD students in the classes of 2027, 2028, and 2029. Candidates must be available to interview virtually on Friday, May 22, 2026.
Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Director of Student Success, the Peer Tutor is responsible for providing educational support to CUSM MD students.
Essential Functions
- Create learning objectives for one-on-one or group tutoring sessions.
- Provide individualized feedback identifying specific areas of improvement and suggesting tailored study strategies.
- Provide consistent and reliable availability for scheduled appointments with prompt follow-up emails.
- Balance the needs of multiple students at any one time.
- Regularly attend Peer Tutor meetings as needed and communicate with the supervisor regarding tutoring challenges and support needs.
- Maintain open communication with the team and regularly check e-mails/team messages for important updates.
- Maintain an individual timesheet of hours worked. Submit timesheets in the timekeeping system by the close of payroll.
- Present individually and with the Peer Tutoring team a series of learning skills workshops, final review sessions, and other Peer Tutoring events/activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Educational Qualifications
- Enrollment as a current CUSM MD student.
- Must be in good academic standing with no professional conduct issues.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of first-year MD graduate level basic sciences courses/blocks/subject matter.
- Ability to uphold high professionalism with other students, faculty, and staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate information and concepts efficiently and concisely.
- Ability to balance the needs of multiple students at any one time.
- Approachable and respectful demeanor and willing to help others when requested.
- Exceptional written and spoken communication and time management skills.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a tutor/teaching assistant
