Job Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated CAD Engineer I to join our UAV development team. In this entry-level role, you will assist in the 3D modeling and 2D drafting of composite structures and components for cutting-edge Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) systems. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers to translate conceptual designs into manufacturable parts, gaining hands-on exposure to aerospace design standards and composite manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:- Design Support: Assist in the development of 3D CAD models for composite UAV components, including small structural parts and brackets.
- Drafting & Documentation: Create detailed 2D engineering drawings from 3D models, ensuring proper application of basic dimensioning.
- BOM Management: Support the generation and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOM) and technical documentation.
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Work with senior engineers and manufacturing teams to understand how designs are realized on the shop floor.
- Engineering Changes: Assist in processing Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and updating legacy designs to reflect current standards.
- Data Management: Upload and manage design files within PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill) under supervision.
- Prototyping: Support the assembly and testing of physical prototypes, providing feedback to the design team on fit and finish.
Required Qualifications:- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 0-2 years of experience (Internship experience in a relevant field is highly valued).
- CAD Proficiency: Foundational knowledge of 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, CATIA V5, or Siemens NX.
- Fundamental Theory: Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, physics, and material properties.
- Technical Drawing: Basic understanding of 2D drafting standards and a willingness to learn GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
- Soft Skills: Strong desire to learn, ability to take direction, and a collaborative mindset for working in a fast-paced team environment.
