Job Title: CAD Engineer - BOM
Job Description
This role focuses on validating and maintaining high-quality Bills of Material (BOM) at the vehicle level. You will ensure that the correct parts and quantities are accurately represented, support a range of BOM-related tasks, and work closely with engineering teams to resolve BOM quality issues. The position also involves generating reports using predefined templates and macros and contributing to continuous improvement of BOM processes.
Responsibilities
- Validate Bills of Material (BOM) at the vehicle level to ensure that all parts and quantities are correct and complete.
- Support various BOM-related tasks, including creation, updates, and maintenance of BOM data.
- Run quality audits on vehicle-level BOMs to verify accuracy and consistency with design and engineering requirements.
- Generate reports based on predefined templates and macros, ensuring data accuracy and timely delivery.
- Collaborate and liaise with part engineers to investigate and resolve BOM quality issues and discrepancies.
- Monitor and track BOM changes, ensuring that updates are properly documented and reflected in relevant systems.
- Contribute to improving BOM processes and documentation by identifying gaps, proposing enhancements, and supporting implementation.
- Communicate clearly with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on BOM structure, variant coding, and effectivity updates.
Essential Skills
- Experience working with Bills of Material (BOM) in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Basic understanding of automotive systems and sub-systems.
- Knowledge of BOM structures, including variant and feature coding and effectivity updates.
- Familiarity with CAD environments, with exposure to tools such as CATIA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to generate and manage reports using templates and macros.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling technical and numerical data.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 3DX tool knowledge is an added advantage.
- Experience collaborating with part engineers or cross-functional engineering teams.
- Ability to interpret engineering data and documentation related to automotive components and systems.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple BOM-related tasks simultaneously.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and resolve data inconsistencies.
Work Environment
You will work in a professional engineering and data-focused environment that emphasizes accuracy, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The role involves regular use of BOM management tools, CAD-related platforms such as CATIA, and office productivity applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. You will interact frequently with part engineers and other technical stakeholders, primarily through digital collaboration and email. The position is office-based or hybrid, depending on organizational arrangements, and follows standard business hours, with occasional flexibility to meet project deadlines. The dress code is typically business casual, reflecting a professional yet practical engineering setting.
