Summary:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for overseeing the commercial and operational performance of a food manufacturing business unit. This role drives profitability, supports production and supply chain effectiveness, manages customer and vendor relationships, and partners with plant leadership to ensure financial, quality, and safety goals are achieved.
Location: Boise, Idaho
Key Responsibilities:
- Own P&L performance for assigned product lines or facilities
- Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and business plans
- Analyze cost drivers, margins, and pricing to improve profitability
- Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions as needed
- Partner with Plant Management, Operations, QA, and Supply Chain teams
- Support production planning, inventory control, and capacity utilization
- Ensure alignment between sales forecasts and manufacturing output
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (cost reduction, waste reduction)
- Support customer negotiations, pricing strategies, and contracts
- Manage key customer relationships and respond to business inquiries
- Coordinate with sales and marketing on demand planning
- Oversee vendor performance and cost optimization initiatives
- Ensure adherence to food safety, quality, and regulatory standards (FDA, USDA, FSMA)
- Support audits, certifications, and customer compliance requirements
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
- Identify growth opportunities, operational efficiencies, and market trends
- Lead or support new product introductions and process improvements
- Contribute to long-term strategic planning and capital initiatives
