Engineer/Technician– Metro Train Assembly Plant
Job Overview
We are seeking energetic, detail-oriented, and technically sound Candidates from Electrical and Mechanical Engineering backgrounds to join a state-of-the-art Metro Rail Manufacturing and Assembly plant in Kolkata.
This role offers a unique opportunity for experienced engineering graduates to build a career in the rapidly growing rail transit and rolling stock industry. You will undergo structured technical training and work closely with senior experts to assemble, integrate, and test modern metro train coaches.
Key Responsibilities
For Electrical Engineering Graduates (Train Systems & Integration):
- Harnessing & Wiring: Oversee and assist in the routing, laying, and termination of complex high-voltage and low-voltage electrical wire harnesses inside metro coaches.
- Control Systems Installation: Support the integration of Train Control and Management Systems (TCMS), passenger information systems, and driver cab consoles.
- HVAC & Power Supply: Assist in installing and testing roof-mounted auxiliary power supply units and coach climate control systems.
For Mechanical Engineering Graduates (Structure & Assembly):
- Shell Structural Integration: Monitor the precision fitment of side walls, roof structures, automatic doors, and gangways.
- Interior Fit-outs: Supervise the structural installation of passenger seating, handrails, paneling, and flooring systems.
- Pneumatics & Piping: Inspect and assist in the layout of pneumatic piping networks responsible for braking and door operations.
Cross-Functional Responsibilities (Both Backgrounds):
- Ensure all assembly work aligns perfectly with 2D engineering layouts, torque charts, and schematic drawings.
- Maintain a zero-compromise attitude toward production quality and strict safety regulations.
- Coordinate with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to log, track, and resolve production line defects.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: ITI or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Experience: Minimum 1 year in Metro Train/Car/Bike assembly line.
- Academic Standing: Minimum 60% aggregate.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blue prints, and circuit schematics.
- Familiarity with basic engineering tools (e.g., torque wrenches, multi-meters, callipers).
- Knowledge of basic manufacturing practices (5S, Lean manufacturing, or Kaizen) is a strong plus.
- Language: Proficiency in English, Bengali and Hindi. Knowledge of Bengali is highly advantageous for coordinating with shop-floor technicians.
