About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join Qualcomm's dynamic Generative AI team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and optimizing AI inference software tailored for Qualcomm chipsets. Your expertise will contribute to the deployment of large language models (LLMs), large vision models (LVMs), and other generative AI frameworks directly on edge devices, harnessing Qualcomm’s extensive heterogeneous computing capabilities. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of AI hardware and software integration, pushing the boundaries of performance and efficiency in AI inference. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware architects, system engineers, and research scientists, to deliver innovative solutions that enable on-device AI processing with minimal power consumption and maximum speed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background in computer science, engineering, or related fields, with extensive hands-on experience in software development. A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience is required, preferably with a focus on AI or embedded systems. Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, and Python is essential. A deep understanding of generative AI models, including LLMs, LVMs, and their building blocks like self-attention and cross-attention mechanisms, is highly desirable. Familiarity with quantization, fixed-point and floating-point representations, and optimization techniques for hardware accelerators such as CPU, GPU, or NPU is crucial. Candidates should demonstrate excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills, along with strong communication abilities to effectively collaborate within diverse, global teams.
Responsibilities
As a key member of the Qualcomm AI team, your primary responsibility will be to develop, optimize, and deploy the Qualcomm AI Runtime (QAIRT) SDK on Qualcomm System-on-Chips (SoCs). You will lead efforts to enhance the performance of large AI models, ensuring efficient inference on edge devices. Your role involves designing and implementing robust C/C++ software stacks, adhering to best practices for high-performance computing. Staying abreast of the latest advancements in generative AI, you will contribute to integrating cutting-edge models and techniques into Qualcomm’s hardware ecosystem. You will also collaborate with hardware teams to optimize algorithms for various accelerators, ensuring maximum throughput and minimal power consumption. Additionally, you will support the testing, validation, and documentation of software components, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
