Role Description The Business Unit Manager will oversee the performance and growth of the assigned business unit, focusing on sales, revenue, and profitability targets in the Mangaluru region. This full-time, on-site role includes leading and mentoring a sales team, setting clear goals, and monitoring performance through regular reviews and reporting. The individual will develop and implement local business strategies, drive acquisition of new customers, and strengthen relationships with distribution partners and key stakeholders. Responsibilities include analyzing market trends, identifying opportunities for product penetration, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory guidelines. The Business Unit Manager will also collaborate with cross-functional teams such as marketing, operations, and training to enhance productivity, improve customer experience, and support long-term business growth.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in sales and business development, preferably within life insurance or financial services, with a proven track record of achieving revenue and growth targets.
- Leadership and team management skills, including the ability to coach, motivate, and develop sales teams to deliver consistent performance.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities with customers, distribution partners, and internal teams.
- Analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to interpret market data, prepare business plans, and make data-informed decisions.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills in English and relevant regional language(s).
- Good understanding of life insurance products, regulatory environment, and customer needs across different life stages (experience can be developed on the job for promising candidates).
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field; a postgraduate degree or professional certification in insurance or finance is an advantage.
- Comfort with fieldwork, on-site team engagement, and regular travel within the Mangaluru region as required by business needs.
