About the Role
Ark Abroad is looking for a Finance & Business Intelligence Analyst who can build and own the financial operating system of a fast-growing business.
This is not a traditional bookkeeping role.
We already have revenue coming in across multiple channels, a growing team, paid marketing, sales commissions, payment plans, payroll, client fulfilment costs, software expenses and increasingly complex business economics.
What used to be manageable manually is no longer good enough.
We need someone who can tell us, with confidence:
- How much money did we actually make?
- How much cash did we collect?
- How much money is overdue?
- What is our true profit?
- How much are we spending on payroll?
- What is our CAC?
- What is our LTV?
- What is our churn?
- What is our contribution margin?
- What is our ROAS?
- Which marketing channels are actually profitable?
- Which sales channels produce the highest-quality customers?
- What will our cash position look like next month?
Your job is to make sure the leadership team always has accurate numbers and clear financial visibility.
What You Will Own
1. Management P&L
You will maintain an accurate monthly management P&L including:
- Revenue
- Cash collections
- Advertising spend
- Payroll
- Sales commissions
- Contractor costs
- Software costs
- Operational expenses
- Fulfilment costs
- Gross profit
- Contribution margin
- Operating profit
- EBITDA / management profit
You should be able to explain why profit moved, not simply report the number.
2. Cash Collections & Accounts Receivable
A significant portion of our customers may pay through instalments or payment plans.
You will own visibility around:
- Total cash collected
- Amount invoiced
- Amount outstanding
- Overdue payments
- Failed payments
- Payment-plan exposure
- Collection rate
- Outstanding receivables by ageing
- Customers requiring follow-up
We should never have to manually figure out who owes us money.
You will build the system that makes this immediately visible.
3. Payroll & Compensation
You will maintain and calculate:
- Employee payroll
- Contractor payments
- Sales commissions
- Incentives
- Variable compensation
- Payroll forecasting
- Department-level payroll costs
You will work closely with HR and leadership to ensure compensation calculations are accurate and payroll is processed correctly.
4. Customer Economics
You will own the numbers behind our customer economics.
This includes:
- Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC)
- Lifetime Value (LTV)
- LTV ratio
- Average Revenue Per Customer
- Customer churn
- Refund rate
- Payment default rate
- Contribution margin per customer
- Gross margin per customer
- CAC payback period
You should understand the difference between revenue, cash collected and actual economic value.
5. Marketing Economics
We spend money across performance marketing and organic acquisition.
You will work with our marketing team and performance marketing agency to track:
- Advertising spend
- Cost per lead
- Cost per qualified lead
- Cost per booked call
- Cost per sales call
- Cost per acquisition
- ROAS
- Cash ROAS
- MER
- Revenue by campaign
- Revenue by acquisition channel
- Contribution margin by acquisition channel
We care about profitable customer acquisition, not vanity metrics.
If Meta says ROAS is 6x but only 40% of that revenue has actually been collected, we want someone who understands the difference.
6. Sales Analytics
You will work with the sales team to understand:
- Leads generated
- Leads contacted
- Calls booked
- Show rate
- Close rate
- Revenue generated
- Cash collected
- Revenue per sales call
- Cash collected per call
- Setter performance
- Closer performance
- Payment-plan vs upfront performance
- Lead-source performance
You should be able to answer questions such as:
“Which marketing channel produces customers who actually pay?”
and
“Which closer produces the highest cash collected per call?”
7. Financial Dashboards
One of your biggest responsibilities will be creating a single source of truth for company numbers.
Leadership should not have to look through five spreadsheets, bank accounts, payment processors and CRM reports.
We expect you to build and maintain management dashboards showing:
- Revenue
- Cash collected
- Outstanding receivables
- Expenses
- Payroll
- Ad spend
- CAC
- LTV
- Churn
- ROAS
- Gross margin
- Contribution margin
- Operating profit
- Cash position
- Monthly forecast
We should be able to understand the financial health of the company within minutes.
8. Forecasting & Financial Planning
You will help us move from looking backwards to looking forwards.
You will build forecasts around:
- Monthly revenue
- Cash collections
- Payroll
- Marketing spend
- Expenses
- Cash flow
- Profitability
- Hiring decisions
- Customer acquisition
You should be comfortable creating scenarios such as:
“If we spend ₹5L/month on advertising at this CAC, what happens to revenue, cash flow and profit?”
or:
“If we hire three additional employees, what happens to our monthly break-even?”
What We Are Looking For
We want someone who is extremely comfortable with numbers but also understands businesses.
You should have:
- Strong financial modelling skills
- Excellent Excel / Google Sheets skills
- Strong analytical ability
- Excellent attention to detail
- Understanding of P&L statements
- Understanding of cash flow
- Understanding of accrual vs cash accounting
- Experience with dashboards and reporting
- Ability to work with messy business data
- Ability to reconcile information from multiple systems
- Commercial thinking
- Strong problem-solving ability
You should be someone who sees a number and naturally asks:
“Why?”
Tools & Technical Skills
Strong experience with several of the following is highly valuable:
- Microsoft Excel
- Google Sheets
- Power BI
- Looker Studio
- Tableau
- SQL
- HubSpot
- Stripe / payment processors
- Accounting software
- CRM systems
- Data visualisation tools
SQL or BI experience is a significant advantage because we want this role to increasingly automate reporting rather than manually maintain spreadsheets forever.
AI
You should actively use AI.
We expect you to use modern tools to:
- Analyse datasets
- Build financial models
- Automate repetitive analysis
- Investigate discrepancies
- Generate formulas
- Build dashboards faster
- Document processes
- Improve reporting workflows
We are not interested in someone who believes every finance workflow needs to remain manual.
What This Role Is NOT
This is not primarily:
- GST filing
- Tax return preparation
- Company-secretarial work
- Traditional bookkeeping
- Voucher entry
- Invoice data entry
We will continue to use external accountants / CAs where appropriate for statutory compliance.
Your job is management finance.
Your responsibility is to help leadership understand:

- Complete visibility over overdue payments
- Accurate payroll calculations
- Clear CAC and LTV calculations
- Reliable churn reporting
- Marketing ROAS and Cash ROAS
- Customer-level profitability
- Department-level costs
- Weekly financial dashboards
- Monthly forecasts
- A clear view of company profitability
Most importantly:

Who Will Do Well Here

- You don't wait for someone to tell you exactly which report to create.
- You understand that financial analysis should lead to business decisions.

You will probably struggle here if:

- You require extremely detailed instructions for every analysis.
- You are uncomfortable with imperfect datasets.
- You report numbers without trying to understand what they mean.
- You prefer maintaining spreadsheets over improving the underlying system.
Application
Please include:
- Your CV
- Your current and expected compensation
- Your strongest Excel / Google Sheets skills
- Any experience with Power BI, Looker Studio, Tableau or SQL
- An example of a financial model or dashboard you have built
- A short answer to:
“If revenue increased 30% but cash in the bank decreased, what are the first things you would investigate?”
- A short answer to:
“How would you calculate CAC and LTV for a coaching business where customers can pay upfront or through instalments?”
We care significantly more about your analytical ability, commercial thinking and ownership than your university degree.
