Job description
Position Summary
The Business Head will be the primary custodian of operations and growth in India. This role carries full Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility and requires a strategic leader capable of transitioning the business from its current state to a robust, long-term manufacturing or market-dominant entity. You will oversee all local functions, including Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, and Administration, while spearheading high-level investment strategies such as factory setups or corporate acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & India Investment
- Expansion Strategy: Evaluate and execute the long-term investment roadmap for India, specifically analyzing the feasibility of a greenfield factory setup vs. local acquisition.
- Market Positioning: Develop and implement strategies for various market segments to ensure Meyer Seals gains a competitive edge.
- Competition Analysis: Monitor market trends and competitor movements to pivot business tactics effectively.
2. Sales, BD & Product Development
- Revenue Growth: Drive Sales, Business Development, and Market Development initiatives to expand the customer base across the region.
- Innovation Focus: Lead the New Product Development (NPD) focus, ensuring the local product portfolio meets the evolving needs of the Indian market.
- High-Level Relations: Maintain top-tier relationships with key accounts and industry stakeholders.
3. Operational & Supply Chain Oversight
- Supplier Development: Identify and develop local raw material suppliers to optimize costs and ensure supply chain resilience.
- Cross-Functional Management: Provide strategic direction to the Warehouse and Logistics functions to ensure seamless order processing, invoicing (E-Way bills), and transportation.
- Infrastructure Building: Oversee the creation of office policies and operational guidelines to establish a professional foundation for long-term growth.
4. Financial & People Management
- P&L Management: Full accountability for the India budget, financial performance, and reporting.
- Team Building: Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team across Sales, Warehouse, and Finance.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure the entity remains compliant with GST, IT filings, and import/export documentation through oversight of the Finance function.
Qualifications & Key Competencies
- Experience: Proven track record in a General Management or Business Head role, ideally within the packaging, seals, or manufacturing industry.
- Strategic Vision: Experience in "Start-up" environments or scaling international businesses in India, including factory setup or M&A.
- Functional Breadth: Strong understanding of P&L, Sales & Marketing, and Supply Chain Logistics.
- Leadership: Exceptional ability to build teams from the ground up and manage diverse departments.
- Financial Literacy: Familiarity with Indian statutory compliances and MIS reporting.
