Role Overview:
We are seeking a Business Head to lead our orthopedic distribution business across East India. This role involves complete ownership of sales, surgeon and hospital relationships, operations, inventory, and collections for the region. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth execution of surgeries, driving revenue growth, and managing day-to-day business operations across multiple cities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales & Revenue Ownership:
Drive sales of orthopedic implants including trauma and related instruments
Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets across East India
Increase product penetration across existing accounts
2. Surgeon & Hospital Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with orthopedic surgeons, OT staff, and hospital procurement teams
Be actively involved in case planning and ensure product alignment with surgeon requirements
Act as the primary point of contact for all key accounts
3. Surgery Execution & On-Ground Coordination:
Ensure availability of correct implants and instrument sets for scheduled surgeries
Coordinate closely with field executives and OT staff for smooth execution
Handle urgent / emergency surgery requirements with quick turnaround
Maintain readiness of critical inventory for high-frequency procedures
4. Inventory Management:
Plan and manage inventory across SKUs, sizes, and categories
Ensure optimal stock levels to avoid both stock-outs and overstocking
Track movement of implants and surgical instruments across locations
Coordinate with accounts and finance to manage receivables from hospitals and ensure timely payments to the manufacturer/ principal, maintaining smooth financial operations.
5. Team Management & Principal Coordination:
Train team members on product knowledge, surgeon handling, and delivery execution
Coordinate closely with the principal/manufacturer on order planning, inventory replenishment, product availability, pricing, and new product introductions to ensure seamless business operations.
6. Billing, Collections & Commercial Discipline:
Ensure accurate billing for all surgeries and supplies
Track receivables from hospitals and ensure timely collections
Manage credit limits and minimize outstanding dues
Monitor overall investment levels by ensuring optimal inventory, maintaining control over receivables, and managing stock returns in line with market trends.
7. Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements related to medical implants
Maintain proper documentation for inventory, movement, and billing
Ensure all processes are aligned with company policies and audit requirements
Key Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of experience in orthopedic implants sales or distribution
Strong existing relationships with orthopedic surgeons and hospitals in East India
Deep understanding of orthopedic product categories and surgery workflows
Experience managing both sales and operational aspects of the business
Ability to handle high-pressure situations, especially during surgery coordination
