As we expand our footprint, we are looking for a driven Business Development Specialist to help us grow our client portfolio and strengthen our position in the pharma staffing market.
Position Summary
We are seeking a results-oriented Business Development Specialist to identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities with pharmaceutical, biotech, CRO, and CDMO clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the pharma industry's talent needs and a proven track record of selling staffing or workforce solutions in a B2B environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities with pharmaceutical, biotech, and life sciences companies for contract, contract-to-hire, and direct placement staffing services.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospects through cold outreach, networking, industry events, LinkedIn, and referrals.
- Conduct discovery meetings with HR leaders, talent acquisition teams, hiring managers, and procurement contacts to understand workforce needs.
- Develop tailored staffing proposals, MSAs, and SOWs aligned with client requirements and budget.
- Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and service-level agreements in collaboration with internal recruitment and legal teams.
- Partner closely with the recruitment delivery team to ensure successful candidate placement and client satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activity, pipeline, and forecasts in CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot, Bullhorn, or similar).
- Stay current on pharma industry trends, hiring patterns, regulatory shifts, and competitor activity to inform sales strategy.
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and industry events such as DIA, BIO, RAPS, and SCOPE.
- Achieve and exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences, Marketing, or a related field.
- 3+ years of B2B business development or sales experience, with at least 1–2 years in staffing, recruiting, or workforce solutions.
- Demonstrated experience selling into the pharmaceutical, biotech, CRO, or life sciences sector.
- Strong understanding of pharma functional areas (e.g., clinical operations, regulatory, QA/QC, validation, manufacturing, medical affairs).
- Proven ability to meet and exceed sales quotas in a target-driven environment.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency with CRM tools and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
Preferred:
- Existing network of contacts within pharma/biotech HR, talent acquisition, or procurement.
- Experience selling MSP, VMS, or RPO solutions.
- Familiarity with FDA, GxP, ICH, and other regulatory frameworks impacting pharma hiring.
