Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Business Development Specialist role based in Chennai. The Business Development Specialist will identify and qualify new business opportunities, generate leads, and build a strong sales pipeline within the logistics and freight sector. The role involves conducting market research to understand industry trends, competitor activities, and customer needs, and translating these insights into actionable strategies. The specialist will engage with prospective and existing clients through calls, meetings, and presentations, prepare proposals and quotations, and support contract negotiations. Day-to-day activities include coordinating with internal operations and customer service teams to ensure smooth service delivery, maintaining accurate records in CRM or tracking tools, and meeting defined targets for revenue growth and client acquisition.
Qualifications
- Strong Analytical Skills and Market Research capabilities to evaluate opportunities, understand trends, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent Communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage with clients, present solutions clearly, and collaborate effectively with internal teams.
- Proven ability in Lead Generation and business development activities, including prospecting, pipeline management, and nurturing client relationships.
- Customer Service skills to manage client expectations, resolve issues promptly, and support long-term client satisfaction and retention.
- Prior experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or related industries is preferred.
- Comfort working in a target-driven environment with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with CRM tools, basic MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and online research tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Logistics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
