We are seeking a self-driven Business Development & Communications Manager to own and execute the firm's external visibility, rankings strategy, and marketing function. This is a hands-on role with high ownership — the person in this role will work closely with the Managing Partner and founding partners to position AP&P's brand, manage its publications pipeline, and build robust knowledge infrastructure to support BD.
The ideal candidate will be structured, proactive, and comfortable operating at the intersection of law, communications, and business development.
POSITION DETAILS
Reporting to : Managing Partner
Location : New Delhi / Gurugram (hybrid)
Experience : 4+
Engagement : Full-time, in-office
Key Responsibilities
1. PUBLICATIONS & THOUGHT LEADERSHIP
- Build and maintain relationships with legal publications and news media (IBLJ, Bar & Bench, IFLR, ALB, LiveLaw, Mint, Economic Times, etc.)
- Coordinate with lawyers to develop bylined articles, client alerts, and practice-area updates; edit for tone, clarity, and house style.
- Engage with book publishers, university presses, and academic institutions in relation to any firm publications, including acting as interpreter/liaison with publishers and college outreach programmes.
- Track editorial calendars and pitch windows for priority outlets; manage a publications pipeline from ideation to placement.
2. RANKINGS & SUBMISSIONS
- Own the end-to-end submissions process for Chambers Asia-Pacific, Legal 500, IFLR1000, ALB, and Asialaw — including deal/matter collection, drafting, referee coordination, and deadline management.
- Maintain a live submissions database with matters, deal values, client names (where permissible), and referee contacts.
- Track submission outcomes and identify gaps in individual and practice-area rankings; develop a year-round strategy to address them.
- Coordinate with partners on referee management and research-desk interactions.
3. PR & EXTERNAL RELATIONS
- Manage the firm's PR function, including media outreach, press releases, interview coordination, and crisis communications support.
- Build relationships with chambers of commerce (FICCI, CII, ASSOCHAM, JICCI, bilateral chambers) for speaking opportunities, membership value, and referral development.
- Liaise with international conference organisers for speaking slots, panel participation, and sponsorship opportunities at IPBA, IBA, and other key conferences.
- Monitor and respond to media enquiries; coordinate quotes and commentary from partners.
4. DIGITAL PRESENCE & WEBSITE
- Own and maintain the firm's website — updates to practice area pages, partner profiles, deal announcements, articles, and news items.
- Manage the firm's LinkedIn presence, including drafting and scheduling posts, engagement tracking, and growing the firm's follower base.
- Develop a content calendar integrating thought leadership, deal tombstones, firm news, and sector commentary across digital channels.
- Track website analytics and LinkedIn metrics; provide monthly performance summaries to the Managing Partner.
5. MARKETING MATERIALS & FIRM PROFILE
- Prepare and periodically update firm and practice-area profiles, individual lawyer credentials, capability statements, pitch decks, and brochures.
- Develop sector-specific marketing collateral (e.g., Japan corridor, TMT, PE/M&A) tailored to target client segments.
- Maintain a suite of template materials (firm overview, one-pagers, credentials decks) that partners can deploy for BD meetings.
- Manage all firm print and digital marketing materials, including pamphlets, event mailers, and conference handouts.
6. KNOWLEDGE & DATABASE MANAGEMENT
- Build and maintain a structured BD knowledge base within the firm's systems (Notion and/or CRM) — deal experience, client sectors, lawyer credentials, and marketing contacts.
- Maintain a BD contacts database covering media, PR, chambers of commerce, conference organisers, and referral sources.
- Systematise the collection and storage of matter experience for submissions, pitches, and internal know-how.
- Develop standard operating procedures for recurring BD and marketing workflows so institutional knowledge is retained and scalable.

- 4+ years of experience in a business development, marketing communications, or PR role, preferably within a law firm, professional services firm, or B2B environment.

- Experience managing external-facing content — newsletters, websites, social media — at an institutional level.
- Familiarity with the Indian legal market and its key publications, chambers, and events ecosystem.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Exceptional written English — capable of drafting and editing across registers (analytical articles, marketing copy, newsletter summaries, pitch materials).
