Role: Business Development Manager (Non-Construction Chemical)
Location: Mumbai
Key Responsibilities
1. Identifying Product Gaps & Market Opportunities
- Conduct structured market research to identify unmet customer needs, emerging applications, and whitespace opportunities.
- Analyze competitor portfolios, product specifications, pricing, and go-to-market strategies.
- Track industry trends, material innovations, and application technologies in non-construction chemical segments.
- Recommend product enhancements, reformulations, or new feature additions aligned with customer requirements.
2. New Product Development
- Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and technical teams to conceptualize, design, and develop new adhesive and specialty chemical products.
- Manage the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from ideation and validation to trials, commercialization, and launch.
- Ensure new products meet application performance standards for glass, marble, stone, and related substrates.
- Align product development initiatives with business strategy, margin targets, and long-term portfolio goals.
3. New Category Creation & Innovation
- Conceptualize and build new product categories within the non-construction chemical space.
- Conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, and market sizing for potential new categories.
- Define value propositions, use-cases, and application differentiation for new categories.
- Lead category launch planning, including pilot rollouts, positioning, and internal enablement.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Execution
- Work closely with sales, marketing, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product adoption.
- Support creation of technical documentation, product guidelines, and application manuals.
- Provide technical and market inputs to sales teams for customer engagement and trial conversion.
- Monitor post-launch performance and drive continuous improvement based on market feedback.
Candidate Profile
Education & Experience
- Science graduate (Chemistry / Materials Science / Polymer Science or related discipline).
- 4–8 years of experience in chemicals, adhesives, sealants, or specialty materials.
- Hands-on exposure to adhesive applications for glass, marble, stone, or similar non-construction substrates is essential.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong ability to analyze market trends and translate insights into actionable product strategies.
- Sound understanding of formulation concepts and application performance requirements.
- Experience working with R&D and technical teams on product development initiatives.
- Commercial mindset with ability to balance innovation, feasibility, and business impact.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
